There’s something to be said for someone who can relate to the people. Hearing a weather person talk about wind gusts is one thing, but when they can phrase it in a way that paints a mental picture, it’s a whole other animal.  Brian Smith, of WTVC, Chattanooga, came up with the “Where’s My Trash Can?” wind gust meter.

  • 10-15 MPH Gusts – Little to no movement
  • 15-25 MPH Gusts – Tipped over nearby
  • 25-35 MPH Gusts – Neighbor’s yard
  • 35-Plus MPH Guests – Down the street
