Some major retailers have an interesting new policy: we'll refund your unwanted returns and you can also keep the item.
While Amazon has used the practice sparingly in recent years, Walmart is among a number of businesses that have begun using artificial intelligence to help decide whether it makes sense to have a customer physically return a product.
That policy is specifically applied to items that are unlikely to be resold, or where the cost of the return is greater than the cost of the product. The companies say with items of low value or that are harder to ship, it just makes more sense to let the customer keep or donate it.
Before dealing with a return, check the retailer’s policy.
