Choosing a name for a baby is a big deal, as the name can have a major impact on their future. Some parents put a lot of effort into finding a unique name, but research shows simple may be the way to go. According to one study, people with simpler names are evaluated more positively in professional and social settings, while another study suggests people with common names are considered more likeable.
Now a new study on the most popular names of the world’s billionaires backs up the idea that simplicity is key.
- Profit Engine used Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index to analyze the first names of the world’s top 500 billionaires as of February 16th.
- The study groups each name by gender, counting how many billionaires share it, and calculates the average net worth per name.
- On the men’s side, John and David tie for number one, with nine billionaires each having that name. The average billionaire worth for John is $21.4-billion and for David, it’s $17-billion.
- The results are a little different for female billionaires. Maria is the only name shared by more than one of them, every other name on the list belongs to a single individual.
