Costco Rolls Out New System To Speed Up Checkout

Costco is trying to speed things up with a new pre-scan checkout system that lets employees scan your cart while you’re still waiting in line, so by the time you reach the register, you just scan your membership and pay in seconds. Early tests show transactions can take as little as eight seconds, and shoppers like that it eases long lines and makes things smoother for cashiers. Still, not everyone’s impressed, with many pointing out it doesn’t match competitors like Sam’s Club, where you can skip the line entirely using Scan & Go. It’s a solid step forward, but clearly not the checkout revolution some shoppers are hoping for.
