Americans love ice cream, so much so that the average person eats around four gallons of the frozen treat each year. While we eat it year-round, summer is when we crave it most, but which brands and flavors are we reaching for most? A new report reveals where Americans are most obsessed with ice cream and which ones are the favorites nationwide.
- Innerbody Research analyzed Google Trends search data to find regional preferences and brand loyalty, and how flavor choices vary across the country.
- It turns out, New Jersey is the most-ice-cream obsessed state. All of the top five states for ice cream search interest are in the Northeast, with Delaware, Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York following New Jersey.
- On the flip side, Arkansas shows the least interest, followed by North Dakota and Oklahoma.
- Halo Top, the low calorie, high protein “light” ice cream, is the most-searched brand in the U.S.
- Cold Stone Creamery and Breyers round out the top three most popular brands.
- Some states go with hometown brands, including Blue Bell in Texas, Ben & Jerry’s in Vermont, Tillamook in Oregon and Turkey Hill in Pennsylvania.
- Strawberry is the favorite flavor overall, followed by chocolate chip and cookie dough.
- But some regional flavors are favorites in their states, like blueberry in Maine, coconut in Hawaii and peach in South Carolina.
