How To Protect Your Eyes During The Solar Eclipse

The solar eclipse is just around the corner (April 8th), but are you prepared to view it? Whether you’re directly in the path of totality, or can view from other states, do not look at the eclipse directly without eye protection. “3NEWS” in Corpus Christi, Texas shares the advice of optometrist Dr. Heriberto D. Ramos. Dr. Ramos warns that direct viewing “actually can burn the back of the eye, the macula, which is responsible for your straight-ahead vision." He adds "Unfortunately when the eyes get damaged from the solar eclipse, it's permanent damage and it's not reversible.” Ramos suggests you buy eclipse glasses from verified companies. Knockoffs may not work and could leave your eyes damaged. You can find a list of the approved eclipse eyewear here.
